HAIDA TOTEM POLE

' Totem in carved wood, placed in front of the Museum in Milwaukee in 1921. The mast carries crests and other totemic symbols of an important family Haida, and until 1913, stood in the town of Ian, Masset Inlet, Queen Charlotte Islands, British Columbia. It is one of the greatest examples of crafts of the wooden sculpture of the Indians of the North-west coast.
