The Ku Klux Klan
The Ku Klux Klan, 1940. 'What is meant by the Ku Klux Klan? The Ku Klux Klan is a secret society in the southern United States after the Civil War aiming to prevent Negros ascendency. A member of this society is called a Ku Klux Klant. The attack on the policies of the carpet-bag government had a desired effect among the poor and ignorant whites. Reared under the degrading influences of slavery, they could not tolerate the blacks as citizens. The Negroes thereafter wer harassed and harried by distubing elements of anarchy, out of which soon emerged an oath-bound order called the Ku Klux Klan established to terrorize the Negroes with lawlessness and violence...'.
