The head and tail sides of the United States dollar coin, 2000. The head features the likeness of Sacagawea, Native American guide and translator for Lewis and Clark, and her infant son Jean Baptiste. Sacagawea, a member of the Shoshone tribe, accompanied the explorers on their journey up the Missouri River and across the Rocky Mountains.
