Ligation Of External Iliac Artery
The external iliac artery is a dirct continuation of the common iliac artery, 1903. From 'Surgical Anatomy: The Treatise of the Human Anatomy and Its Applications to the Practice of Medicine and Surgery, Volume III' (1903). It begins at the bifurcation of the latter at the sacro-iliac synchondrosis and runs along the brim of the true pelvis to Poupart's ligament, terminating at a point midway between the anterior superior spine of the ilium and the symphysis pubis behind Poupart's ligament, where it becomes known as the femoral artery.
