Portrait of Viola Liuzzo with Her Children
Portrait of American civil right activist Viola Liuzzo with her children. Original Caption reads: 'Mrs. Viola Liuzzo, 39, (shown in file photo) was the victim of a sniper's bullet, which took her life as she was driving her car on a lonely stretch of road between Selma and Montgomery, Alabama. The civil rights worker and a Negro man, 21, were on their way to the state capitol to pick up more passengers for the return trip to Selma after their freedom march 3/25. Viola Liuzzo's death made her a symbol of the dedication women put in to the civil rights movement'.
