The celebrity-packed throng of guests included from left: painter Salvador Dali, opera star Lily Pons, and guest of honor, Mrs. Mesta, noted Washington, D.C. party-giver. It was unique for the former Ambassador to Luxembourg to find herself "being presented" instead of "presenting".
