Ovarian cycle, ovulation, fertilization, segmentation of the embryo and nidation. - Ovary in cut-away view with different stages of the ovarian cycle : primordial follicle, primary follicle, secondary follicle, tertiary follicle, Graafian follicle, ovulation (Graafian follicle ejecting the ovocyte II it contains), follicular atresia in corpus luteum. - Ovulation : the ovocyte II released by the Graafian follicle is captured by the infundibulum of the Fallopian tube. - Fertilization : at the level of the Fallopian tube, the ovum is fertilized by a spermatozoa. - Segmentation (succession of cellular divisions) of the egg into an embryo of various cells, while it transits into the Fallopian tube. - Nidation of the embryon (blastocyst stage) in the uterine endometrium.
