One of the stops made by stage coaches, wagons and travelers on horseback was the corner of the Sheridan-Mississippi intersection. Because this primitive trail was one of the early routes into present day Lakewood, it gave the intersection of South Sheridan and West Mississippi historical significance. In 1908, Leo Hart and Lena Fischer married and in the early 1920s they bought property on the north side of Morrison Road and South Sheridan Blvd in 1924. Hart turned the old root beer stand into a small restaurant and called it Hart's corner. In 1977, Hart's Corner Restaurant and property was sold to the Moutsos family. The Moutsos family ran the Restaurant for 17 of the last 34 years. This year, 2011, the Moutsos family decided to personally operate Hart's Corner Restaurant again, and to return Hart's Corner to the neighborhood gathering spot that everyone enjoyed coming to. They will be serving homemade breakfast, lunch and dinner with daily specials including Greek dishes. The hours will be from 7:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. Sun. Thurs. and open until 12:00 p.m. on Fri. and Sat. Kathryn Scott Osler, The Denver Post (Photo By Kathryn Scott Osler/The Denver Post via Getty Images)
