Oak Ridge Electromagnetic Plant
(Original Caption) New Oak Ridge Plant. Oak Ridge, Tennessee: David E. Lilienthal, Chairman of the Atomic Energy Commission, who urges the public to wait a while before putting buildings underground, told a news conference, January 31, that what's needed now is "more information and fewer conclusions." The Commission, he said, commenting on its fifth semi-annual report to Congress, is planning to put out a lot more information in the future than it has in the past. This picture shows for the first time the modernized elctromagnetic plant at Oak Ridge, Tennessee. January 29, 1949.
