Moorpark, CA.04–07–2005: Palentologist Mark Roeder shows a photo of what the mammoth may have looked like to Moorpark city officials who visited the site. A site monitor looking for Indian artifacts or fossils at William Lyon Homes Inc. Meridian development off Walnut Canyon in Moorpark discovered bones believed to be from an Imperial Mammoth that died there approximately 2 million years ago. Paleontologist were dispatched to uncover the find and stabilize the remains in preparation for transportation to a lab in Santa Ana where they will be clean and preserved.
