The 6-month long training of dervishes includes physical aspects as well as spiritual ones. The trainees perform pray before doing push-ups to make their bodies stronger and to calm their soul pray. After that, a trainee stands next to a wooden board with barefoot, bowes on the knees and prostrates to kiss a wedge meaning 'thanks'. Then a trainee sprinkles a small amount of salt to prevent any nappy rash or wound, to a wedge. Following these steps, a trainee places his barefoot on a wedge and starts to turn.
