circa 1860: James Pollock (1810-1890). American lawyer and politician. Member, US Congress 1844, governor of Pennsylvania 1855-58, sold Western Division of State Works, canals and Allegheny Portage Railroad to Pennsylvania RR, reducing state debt and taxes, brought about the charter of Farmer's High School (now Penn State University), director of US Mint, Philadelphia 1861-66, 1869-73, originator of motto 'In God We Trust' on US coins.
