Jade dragon-headed tortoise, Yuan dynasty-early Ming dynasty, China, 1279-1499. A dragon-headed tortoise with bearded head, two barbed horns and swept up mane. Its snout is upturned and its mouth shows a free standing tongue. The tail is three pronged and upturned, the carapace with knobbles on the top section and the sides smooth with two planes.
