(Original Caption) In a ceremony at the Pentagon today (May 19), Secretary of War, Robert P. Patterson (L) and Thomas J. Watson (R) President of International Business Machines Corporation is seen here after he was presented with the Medal for Merit. The Award was for Exceptionally Meritorious Conduct in Performance of Outstanding Services to the U. S. during the recent war, and for the fact that in all his Government Contracts, he limited the profits to less than one and a half percent and placed the sum in a fund for the benefit of war widows and orphans of his employees who lost their lives in the war.
