Paul Chu Holding Superconductor Chip
(Original Caption) 2/17/1987-Houston, TX- Physicist Dr. Paul Chu of the University of Houston holds an experimental superconductor which, when cooled in liquid nitrogen to minus 321 degrees farenheit, has the ability to transport electrical current with no resistance. Present conventional transmission lines have resistance and cause a loss of 25 to 60 percent of the current. The development could mean a large savings in world energy consumption.
