People Observing Mechanical Map
(Original Caption) Finding your way around Ohio...At Chicago Exhibition. Chicago: This remarkable mechanical map of the staff of Ohio is attracting huge crowds to the exhibit of the Buckeye State at the Chicago century of Progress exposition. The map, which is twelve feet square, is divided into square of three and one-half inches, each of which represents a township. Behind each square is an electric light controlled by one of the 1300 push buttons which illuminate and individual square or group of squares. An index makes it possible for the stranger to locate any town, point of historic interest, college, river, lake, or road by simply pushing the proper button. Some 3 1/2 miles of wire were used in construction of the map.
