Farmer J.F. Wyatt Reading the Newspaper
(Original Caption) Farmer J.F. Wyatt, of Rocheport, Mo., wasn't fooling when he read of President Eisenhower's veto of the farm bill and said "They got the seat of my trousers now." He went on to say, "Everything we buy is going up and everything we sell is going down." Wyatt, who farms some land on Missouri river bottoms and river hills, explains that he paid $1,200 for a tractor in 1946, and recently had to pay $2,150 for a new tractor. "In 1946 corn was worth $2.00 a bushel and some last year's picking sold for $.95 and $1.00 a bushel."
