Endo Morito
Endo Morito was a twelfth-century warrior who fell in love with the beautiful Lady Kesa. When he made his unwanted desires known, she pretended to acquiesce, on condition that he kill her husband while he was asleep. She then cut off her long hair and took her husband's place in bed, awaiting her death rather than dishonor. Morito cut off her head, then realizing what he had done, became a priest and spent the rest of his life repenting. | Located in: Private Collection.
