Lilienthal is shown in Washington as he told a senate appropriations subcommittee that he favors withdrawal of the 1,600 AEC scholarship granted Hans Freistadt, an avowed communist. While the joint congressional atomic committee investigated supposed activities of some of the recipients of the scholarships, Lilienthal declares that he opposes the use of public funds for the education of subversives.
