Esztergom, HUNGARY: Archbishop of Esztergom-Budapest and primate of Hungary Peter Erdo celebrates his mass in the major Hungarian church, the Esztergom Basilica at the biginning of the Lent, occurs 40 days before Easter 21 February 2007 during an evening mass for Ash Wednesday. Esztergom, the place of birth and coronation of St. Stephan, the first Hungarian king, was the capital of Hungary from 972 till the Mongol invasion of the country in 1241-42.
