Working in war-torn Afghanistan, you might expect Marquis' biggest headache to be security. In fact, he says, his main worry is how to protect the vast wealth of cultural treasures under Afghan soil from being stolen and smuggled to wealthier countries, or worse, destroyed altogether. Afghanistan's position on the ancient silk road that linked east with west has left the country with a rich cultural heritage.
