The Princess of Wales visiting the dying groom - stock illustration
The Princess of Wales, Princess Alexandra, who was married to the Prince of Wales, later King Edward VII on the death of his mother, Queen Victoria, in 1901. The Princess visited a young male groom, Charles Bledgg, who was dying of typhoid, the serious illness which had recently almost killed her husband. From Cottager and Artisan for 1872, published in London by the Religious Tract Society.
