The Gap of Dunloe, Ireland - stock illustration
The Gap of Dunloe (Dun Loich, or Bearna an Choimin), County Kerry, Republic of Ireland, was created two million years ago by massive, slow-moving glaciers and is probably the finest example of a glaciated valley in western Europe. The glacial activity created a narrow pass in the mountains of the McGuillycuddy Reeks and has always been a popular tourist attraction. Illustration from "Picturesque Europe - The British Isles" published by Cassell Petter & Galpin in 1875 (price 2/6d).
