Daspletosaurus confronts a family of Chasmosaurus. - stock illustration

Daspletosaurus confronts a family of Chasmosaurus. Daspletosaurus was a late Creteaceous (75 million years ago) Tyrannosaurid of North America. They were about 26-30 feet long, but their teeth were more evolved for slashing rather than bone crunching like their later cousin, T-Rex. They would have preyed on such animals as the ceratopsian Chasmosaurus. This frilled and horned dinosaur was about 14-16 feet long. Chasmosaurus and Daspletosaurus all lived in southern Canada in Alberta and across Montanna and North Dakota.
