Aristides (also Aristeides; 530 BC – 468 BC) was an ancient Athenian statesman. As an opponent of the fleet plans of Themistocles, he was banished from 482 BC to 480 BC by the ostracism (democratic process of expulsion). The illustration shows him at the signing of the judgment to the exile of ten years from Athens. Woodcut engraving, published in 1864.
