Ticks having sex. Copulation of ticks (Ixodes ricinus). The adult form of the tick reaches from about 2 to 4 mm. Larger sizes are achieved by females that are additionally bicolor (brown and orange or brown and red). The large size of a female tick stems from the fact that they collect the blood that is needed for reproduction. Females tick, thanks to more possibilities, attack a bit larger in terms of size animals, such as: roe deer, wild boar and cattle. In turn, the task of the male is to fertilize the female, so that she can lay eggs for the lengthening of the species.
