Interviewer: I recently just talked with Teri Garr for the re-release of “Young Frankenstein” and she said that every time you did the scene with Cloris Leachman, where you’re going up the stairs, she said you just couldn’t do it, you just kept laughing every time. What do you remember about doing that scene? Gene Wilder: Oh, it was murder. She takes this candelabra, stuffed full of candles that are not lit, and says, “Stay close to the candles, this staircase can be treacherous.” And I think that this lady is batty, but we stay close because I’m scared of her. Well every time we tried to do it, at a certain point I would just burst out laughing, it was really tough. But we finally got it, but she was...the whole cast was wonderful.
