(part 3 of 4)Q - So why not guarantee the full billion pounds then?A - What we've seen with projects like this in the past is they bring in at least as much social and philanthropic capital. And also this isn't just about government doing something to a community, this is about government working with the community here in Westleigh and in other communities around the country to raise the aspirations and the life chances of young people. Government can't do that on their own, but government working with the local community, working with schools, working with local businesses and philanthropists, we can turn around the opportunities of young people and as a result create a fairer, more equal and more prosperous society.Q - You've made this announcement in the north west. Is that about trying to win over wavering voters?A - This social impact investing is happening at a number of schools around the country, including here in Westleigh, and we want it to touch more children from a wider range of schools and communities around our country. But there's great things happening here in Westleigh and there are many children who are benefiting from this investment that the government has put in? I'm at Westleigh Methodist School today, seeing the impact that this investment can make and the transformation it's having for the children here, but also their families. I want to see that reach more children. But I'll make no apologies in ensuring that this Labour government is putting money into communities like this one in Westleigh.Q - If you look at the Northwest region, there are parts of it where almost half of children living in poverty.
